Junior Fair
The Junior Fair Gives Young People the Opportunity to Showcase Their Talents
The Junior Fair offers young people, ages 3 to 14, the opportunity to showcase their creativity in baking, drawing, handicrafts and photography. The Premium List outlines the various classes for each age group: 3-5 years; 6-8 years; 9-11 years; and 12-14 years and also serves as the entry form. Premium Lists are available on this website or locally at the libraries and the post offices or by contacting a Junior Fair Committee member.
Young people are invited to look at the Premium List and find classes to enter. Your entry needs to meet the requirements of the class it is entered in and may be an item that you already have created, as well as items you create especially for the Junior Fair. Everyone in Big Rock, Hinckley and other communities may enter. Bring your entries to the Junior Fair building on Friday from 3 to 6:45 pm.
Each year there are three special entry premium classes offered for art, a craft and in baking. Award money is offered for both regular and special entry premium classes and is listed on the Premium List. Two Special Awards are offered and are presented to the:
- person(s) with the most entries in the Junior Fair
- person(s) winning the most blue ribbons in all classes
The awards are in the amount of $25 for First Place; $15 for Second Place; and $10 for Third Place.

Auction of Junior Fair Baked Goods
The Bandstand is the place to be on Saturday afternoon. Prize-winning baked goods from the Junior Fair are auctioned to the highest bidder beginning at 1 pm. These Blue and Red ribbon winners are the best of the best.
Come support your Junior Fair baker. A Preview List of the baked goods to be included in the auction will be available when you register to bid at the stage. Get your bidder’s number at the bandstand that day beginning at 12:30 pm until the auction begins at 1 pm. Or you can reserve one by contacting A. Denise Farrugia.
All proceeds benefit the Big Rock Plowing Match Association.
